Registering a domain name is very simple; in fact too simple!  And when you can register a domain name for just a few pounds, you may be forgiven for believing that you have little in the way of responsibilities.

• What function will the intended website carry out? 
• Who will be the owner of the website?
• Is your chosen domain name likely conflict with an existing trade mark
• Are you registering it in bad faith?

Although, domain name registrations are relatively cheap to register, their value in terms of their intellectual property.  Hopefully they will quickly outweigh their face value as they begin to promote and support your brand, or even become the brand itself.  That's why it's important to get the registration right first time.
