Don't throw away!

If you keep empty ink cartridges to stop them going to land-fill, but don't know what to do next, help is at hand.

Village Internet can take all your old inkjet and toner cartridges, and recycle them so as to minimise the environmental impact.

Recycling the materials is important. However, this is a last resort and we we'll try and reuse the complete cartridge first, to avoid unnecessary remanufacturing.

Wireless going slow?

If you're using a wireless connection and its not giving you the performance you expect, there are a number of possible problems that could be the cause. These include:

  • Antennae power setting too low on your wireless router
  • Having either the router or laptop too close to metalwork
  • Wireless signal unable to go through solid materials – stone, concrete, etc
  • Using the same channel as a neighbour’s router that's within range
  • Interference from microwave ovens, bluetooth devices and cordless phone

This is not an exhaustive list but covers the main culprits. There are many ways of isolating and eliminating the problem of slow response, but there is almost one foolproof method – connect your PC or laptop to your broadband router using an Ethernet cable (if you can put up with the tripping hazard that is!)
