Don't throw away!

If you keep empty ink cartridges to stop them going to land-fill, but don't know what to do next, help is at hand.

Village Internet can take all your old inkjet and toner cartridges, and recycle them so as to minimise the environmental impact.

Recycling the materials is important. However, this is a last resort and we we'll try and reuse the complete cartridge first, to avoid unnecessary remanufacturing.

Ink Cartridge Terminology

There are many terms used in the ink supply market, and for simplicity we will assume they refer to both inkjet and toner cartridges. Here are some you may come across...

Original

This is a cartridge which is supplied by the printer manufacturer, and which they'll recommend you use for best results - well they would, wouldn't they?  Wink

Refilled

This is a cartridge which has been refilled with toner or ink.  Often, cartridges will be advertised as having been refilled with a larger quantity of toner or ink than an original would have been.  You may wish to consider the economy this offers when buying a refilled version.  A cartridge supplied by the original printer manufacturer and which has never been refilled, is known as a 'virgin' cartridge.

Compatible

A cartridge made by someone other than the original manufacturer, and is often interchangeable with the term remanufactured.
