Install Problems

Problem: Install Directory Not Empty

 

Joomla Install

When you try and install Joomla from your Control Panel into your root directory, you may get an error message that tells you that your root directory is not empty.  The workaround is to remove the index.html page first using FTP, and then your next installation attempt should be successful. The index.html page will have been pre-loaded for the following reasons...

 

Initial Site Setup

When your Village Internet account is set up, an index.html page with a 'Welcome Message' is loaded into your root directory. We do this for two reasons:

  1. When you logon to your site from the internet you can see that it's up and running
